Just found it in the newspaper back on the 19th of January (granted I didn't reply until that next weekend)... got a return email last Friday saying they'd received it and would be in contact if interested... got a call about 3 hours later. Got phone interviewed, and set up an onsite interview for yesterday morning at 9am. Went in, did my thing, was a little rushed (they had a staff meeting at 10, so I was out the door by 9:42), but things had gone well! They gave me a tour of the place, showed me all the systems and told me what they were looking to do, then asked when I could start if offered the position... Being that I'm only working temporarily at my current job ($9/hr blows) I told them, "today, tomorrow, yesterday?!?". They laughed, said they'd be in touch. The guy who had called me in gave me his card, said I was one of 10 applicants they were interviewing they'd screened from over 50... but he said they were trying to make a quick decision, but the guy I'll be working for was going out of town Saturday for a weeks vacation... so I asked if I could call next week to check in if I hadn't heard anything, the guy said "yeah, that's why I gave you my card!". I thanked them and went on my way... but the whole time it was very cheerful and upbeat. Not your normal "eh" interview where they don't like you. So I was praying I'd get a call early next week... Well the guy called me today... asked if I was still interested, to which I replied "uh, yeah!". So he made me an offer. Gave me exactly what I asked for, plus an additional $2k a year starting after the first 90 days. =) Whoot! I'll be an "IT Specialist"... basically a Jack of All Trades as far as computers are concerned. Granted its a lot less than my last job, but about twice what I'm making now! Yeah... Hopefully I'll be able to quickly pay off my Z Repair Incurred debt... =) Go me. Sorry, I'm just happy... I was laid off from my last job back in May 2002... and since then I've had two jobs. Selling Infinitis from Sept to Dec 2002, and my current job I started three weeks ago (CSR for a Benefits Administration company, not the most glorious job for a CS major!). Yeah me... K, I'll stop now... YEAH =) Whoops... previewd the post and realized I didn't say where I worked... Get this, NGK-Locke Polymer Insulators, Inc in Virginia Beach... they're an affiliate of NGK, Inc. Japan... which USED to own NGK Spark Plugs, Inc. =) Ironic huh... I was kinda hoping for a discount no spark plugs... oh well. ^_^
